| Writing Instruction integrated with Critical Thinking Skills |
Our writing curriculum fully integrates the six traits of writing with the writing process—providing everything a learner needs in a writing curriculum. Learners will improve their grammar, mechanics, and usage skills by participating in learning activities that hone these skills through practice and teacher feedback. The program also includes opportunities for collaborative activities in proofreading and the construction of written works. Our writing curriculum is implemented in carefully planned core units that assess the learner’s improvement in each writing skill and strategy.
Learning Objectives:
- View the writing process as a looping path of improvement, not simply as a straight line.
- Plan each of written essays step-by-step as each learner pre-write, write, revise, and publish the final work
- Use concrete strategies for completing each of the steps involved in the writing process
- Integrate the six writing traits—ideas, organization, voice, word choice, sentence fluency, and conventions—into the writing process when composing a written work
- Write in several purposeful forms including narrative, expository, persuasive, response to literature, creative, and research
- Collaborate with other learners to create and edit papers and learn how to provide meaningful suggestions to peers for stronger, more effective writing.
Target Audience:
Our writing program is especially beneficial to learners who are struggling with writing process. The program teaches learners the fundamental writing skills and strategies necessary for writing in all forms, making it developmentally appropriate for all K-12 learners including English learners, struggling learners, and advanced learners.
